JEWELRY CARE
Every vintage piece in our collection has a story — and with a little care, it will continue to shine for years to come. Because vintage jewelry is often more delicate than modern pieces, we recommend the following guidelines to keep your treasures looking their best.
✨ General Care
Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, or working out.
Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, and cleaning agents.
Always put your jewelry on last and take it off first.
Clean gently using a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive cloths or cleaners.
💛 Gold
Most vintage gold pieces are either solid gold, gold-filled, or gold-plated.
For solid gold: Clean with warm water and a mild soap using a soft brush or cloth. Rinse and pat dry.
For gold-plated or gold-filled: Avoid excessive rubbing or polishing, as it may wear away the layer. Clean gently with a damp cloth only.
Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or box to prevent scratches.
🩶 Sterling Silver
Sterling silver can tarnish naturally over time. To restore shine, polish gently with a silver cloth.
Avoid water and chemical exposure to reduce tarnishing.
Store in a dry, airtight bag or anti-tarnish cloth to prevent oxidation.
💎 Gemstones & Pearls
Clean gemstones with a soft cloth and, if needed, a little warm water.
Never use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemicals, especially on porous stones like opals, turquoise, or pearls.
Pearls should be worn often to maintain their luster, but wiped gently after each wear.
🛠 Repairs & Maintenance
Vintage jewelry can be delicate. If a piece needs resizing, stone tightening, or repair, we recommend consulting a trusted local jeweler familiar with vintage work. Venus Vintage does not currently offer repair services.
🌙 Energy Clearing
If you feel drawn to energetically cleanse your vintage piece, you may choose to: - Smudge gently with sage or palo santo. - Place under moonlight overnight -especially during a full moon for releasing, or a new moon for setting new intentions. - Use a cleansing crystal like selenite.
Thank you for caring for your piece of history. With gentle handling and mindful storage, your jewelry will continue to tell its story for many years to come.
